Bio blurb
Edel Perth and Noni Espinosa met while studying music at the turn of the 21st century. A natural progression and a fabulous musical connection sees these two working and writing together 15 years later. Using both the Irish and Spanish words for ‘friend’ (cara & amigo) the name Caramigo was born. Since their virgin gig at the Grace Emily hotel for a 2001 fundraising event, this duo have continued to spread their infectious tunes at festivals from Fringe to Feast. Singer/Songwriter Edel paints pictures in the air with her tales of Love, Life and Longing, with lyrics from both her imagination and real life scapes.
Guilarist Noni’s Latin history drew him to music at an early age where he was inducted into the predominantly family member band Expresiones. And he’s been adding the sweet and sassy South American feel behind the gorgeous husky voice of Edel ever since. Their heartfelt songs will make you want to swing and sway, tap your toes and wiggle your toosh all at once.
While both musicians got involved in side projects .Edel with ‘Combee’, and Noni with ‘FLU’ (Funk Latin Union) as well as various community projects, they continued to merge their styles and creating music worthy of a tropical island beach party under a full moon.
They released their debut CD ‘As is’ in 2005 and are currently recording 'Unravel' their second CD, ready to launch in October 2015.
The duo have been ‘keeping up appearances’ so to speak, at various live music venues around Adelaide ever since, including a long association with SCALA (Songwriters, Composers And Lyricists, Association) All three amigo’s have each won awards for songwriting as part of FOOM (Festival Of Original Music) hosted by SCALA. From residencies and regular gigs at venues like the Daniel O’Connell and Stirling pubs, and gigs at The Gov, the band continue to be flexible with their approach to collaborating, constantly reshaping, bending, and letting flow with their style. They have a cache of new tunes, mostly penned while Edel was traveling around South America and New Zealand in 2012/13.
While she was away her partner in rhyme kept busy doing other side projects, Noni with FLU and sound production, Picking up where they left off before Edel’s return to her homeland, the duo are excited about the new material and getting their collective creative consciousness back in the groove.
